The MENTE Summit organizing committee is seeking workshop presenters who are interested in presenting at the MENTE Summit.  Presenters will be expected to be role models and offer practical information to help young Latino men increase their understanding, knowledge, and skills in the following areas:

  • Mentoring

  • Professional growth (networking, soft skills, developing your brand)

  • Identity Development

  • Healthy masculinity and machismo

  • Code-switching within predominantly White institutions

  • LGBTQ+ resources, empowerment, and support

  • Criminal (in)justice system

  • Access, retention, and completion strategies within higher education

  • Gender disparities in education, business, and politics

  • Immigration Status & Support (DACAmented & Undocumented)

  • GOAL setting

We aim to incorporate the themes of resiliency, community, perseverance, growth, and change throughout the summit.

Who should present?

Gender and ethnic disparities exist in education, Latinos are infrequently taught by Latino men throughout their education.  Due to these disparities Latino men are primarily encouraged to present at the MENTE Summit.  We are also aware that the entire Latinx community plays a pivotal role in men’s education and women are also invited to present at the MENTE Summit.  We encourage ALL presenters to identify a current college Latino male, coach up and present together to enhance the student’s leadership skills.

  • Proposals will be evaluated on all of the following criteria: The proposed topic and presentation will enhance the skills of participants and/or provide participants with practical tools.

  • Clearly explain how the presenter(s) intend to actively engage students in the session.

  • Have goals that are clearly specified and achievable for the length of the proposed session.
